Job Description

 

Summary:
A forklift operator is in charge of navigating a warehouse or construction site in order to transfer products. A forklift operator’s key responsibilities include conducting routine maintenance on the forklift, transporting products from one location to another, making reports of missing or broken goods, and inspecting the forklift. They are in charge of ensuring that the forklift is in proper working order.

Responsibilities of a Forklift Operator:

  • Warehouse commodities are loaded, unloaded, sent, and received.
  • Transporting goods to various areas across the plant.
  • Load optimization to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Loads are secured to the machine before shipment.
  • Vehicles are being inspected for damage.
  • Vehicle maintenance and repairs are scheduled.
  • Using and supervising technological equipment.
  • Using RF scanning technology to manage inventories.
  • Orders are picked and wrapped for shipment.
  • Identifying potential workplace safety concerns.
  • Observance of safety management requirements.
  • Observing manufacturing timetables.

 

Forklift Operator Qualifications:

  • GED or high school diploma
  • Valid forklift certification.
  • Hand-eye coordination is excellent.
  • Knowledge of how to operate technological apparatus and RF scanners.
  • Excellent physical condition.
  • Aptitude in mathematics.
  • Excellent organizing abilities.
  • Pay attention to the details.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
